Encaustic Painter Living in Seattle
Janée Kreinheder
I have always lived near a body of water. My childhood was spent swimming, floating, and fishing on a river in Southern Oregon. This was the beginning of my love for water. After spending two summers on Orcas Island and then visiting Seattle as a young adult, I knew I needed to live near the Puget Sound. I moved to Seattle in 1996.
My encaustics are interpretations of the water I see around me and the places I travel. The lines began by observing how nature and the urban environment overlap. They have evolved to suggest perspective and depth in the paintings.
To me, water is peaceful and calming. Evoking these feelings ismy intent.
